Committee Reports
Membership:
2009
- Year ended with 108 memberships representing 197 people
2010
- Once again we emailed our Spring newsletter instead of mailing it, but with the slow return of early membership forms, we definitely see the need to send the newsletter regular mail next year.
- Our membership form was once again placed in the club packet along with a copy of our Spring newsletter and meeting announcement.
- The importance of the influence of large membership numbers cannot be underestimated when we present the municipality with our requests and concerns
A big THANK YOU to Tim Boswell for creating our beautiful calendar for a third year. They have been a little later than expected this year and we are urging you to sign up now to assure receiving a calendar when they come in. We will only take your money when we deliver the calendars.

Environment :
Lucie Robillard Barbeau reported on the study of the litteral zone.
With the help of volunteers, the litteral zone study is about 75% complete. The study should be completed in August.
In the preliminary studies it was found that there is a definite connection between beautiful lawns and growth in the water.
We are beginning a fish study with papers being handed out to fisherman to report back to us on the size and health of their catch. The lake was stocked four years ago and the study will tell us if the fish have survived and are able to procreate.
In their study of the aging of the lake, it is found our lake is still in the mid age stage but is heading to old. This can be slowed down by changing our habits.
The next step in the study is still under discussion, with a preliminary report due out this Fall.
Municipal:
On July 12, 2010, Friends/Amis sent a letter to the mayor and council requesting that they be sensitive to the environment when planning projects so as not stress areas already under assault like the marina area in the village.
The association is very concerned about the major projects planned for the North and South end parking and wharves. We’ve asked for a scope of the project, and a study of the environmental impact.
Other Business:
With the help of Carol Holland, Friends/Amis is now incorporated. At this meeting, we are transferring all our members from the original association to the new incorporated association and that any membership dues paid to Friends/Amis will be transferred to the Corporation and that this meeting is reconstituted as the first general meeting of the members of the Corporation.
Adjournment:
The abbreviated meeting was adjourned, moved by Glen Magee and seconded by Richard Lessard, to welcome our special guests.
Special Presentation by Guests from Bark Lake:
Chris Campbell welcomed and introduced our guests from Bark Lake: Mike Trudel and Susan de Schultas who have generously accepted our invitation to talk to us about Barkmere’s journey over the last 10 years as they developed an Urban Plan and passed bylaws to protect their municipality, the environment and control development. This was followed by an extremely informative session with a very lively question and answer period.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Campbell, Secretary
